Fall in Love with 20 Farmers this Summer

By | February 5, 2018

When it came to launching our 2018 Harvest Box sales this season, we asked ourselves:
What is YYC Growers and Distributors truly about?

We know it’s about flippin’ phenomenal local produce, a unique Community Supported Agriculture model and of course, urban and rural farms. But that isn’t the whole picture. There’s more to YYC Growers than local food, something past the plates -- something deeper.

With the launch of our Harvest Box sales in February, we finally connected the dots. February is Heart month, the month we celebrate Valentine’s Day. While it might sound cheesy, at its core, YYC Growers’ is all about love, connection and commitment (before you roll your eyes -- read on!): a love of good quality food, a sense of connection with where that food comes from and a willingness to commit to the farmers growing it in both good times and bad.

And so our marketing campaign was born. This year’s theme: love, connection & commitment -- everything you’ve always wanted in a relationship 😉

The key message we hope to convey through all of this is that our Harvest Box Program aims to deliver a unique experience. One that goes beyond just an exchange of fresh veggies each week. We want you to fall in love with local food, to feel more connected to your food and where it’s coming from. We want you to get to know and love all twenty of our farmers!

We are committed to growing some of the finest local food for you this season and to help you feel connected to the farmers who lovingly seed, weed, harvest and package your veggies.

On your part, we hope you can make a commitment as well. When you buy a Harvest Box, you are committing to:

  • Supporting 20 local farms through all the challenges and joys of the season.
  • A more flexible grocery list, allowing the season to dictate the vegetables that fill your fridge.
  • Picking up your farm fresh veggies on a weekly basis.
  • Cooking, eating and enjoying vegetables a little more often.
  • Nourishing your body with fresh, nutrient dense & flavourful produce all Spring/Summer long.

But above all else, you are commiting to the creation of a brighter future, one in which environmental values are no longer externalized from the cost of food production and the health of both people and the planet is at the forefront of agricultural practice.

So get yourself signed-up already and lettuce help you overcome that fear of commitment!
